Property Crime is Still Rampant in San Francisco

I’m a realtor in the city and the prevalence of property crime, theft and now even violent crime is rampant. It’s inescapable which is a shame. Yes I’ve had my car windows smashed, only for there to be absolutely nothing in my car to steal but a ziplock baggie of old almonds in my glove compartment for when I’m out working all day and don’t have time to eat. Businesses all around me continue to have stolen cars ran into their windows to break in and steal merchandise.

I’ve lived here for 14 years and I always knew it used to be the safest neighborhood in the city. Now no neighborhood is safe from these common occurrences and we put up with it like we have no options or recourse?! We do! We’re all paying tax dollars, let’s figure out a way to make sure our money is being put to work in a way that keeps us safe and not victims simply for living. This is one of the most expensive cities in the U.S., it’s not that we made a naive choice to grow roots in a community that has a long history of being a harmful environment. We have some responsibility in its demise therefore we are responsible for its solution too!!
