My Street is Now a "Red Light District"

A.O. Comments: I live in an area of the Mission that the City has tacitly declared a red light district for street prostitution. This has been the case for over four decades, despite the protest of the families who live here. Neither the Johns, nor the prostitutes, nor the pimps that invade our neighborhood every night live here, or even in SF. Our rotating Mission Station police chiefs and at least three BOS members that have "served" District 9 since I've been here have ever done anything significant to help us.

How have your concerns about crime changed in the time you have lived in your neighborhood?: The above problem has been constant during my two-plus decades in the neighborhood, however the general sense that "San Francisco is the place to come if you want to commit crimes and get away with it" has amplified significantly in the past few years, starting with the lunacy of electing a public defender as DA, the effects of Prop 47 somehow being passed, and the complete cave-in to crime that has been the status quo since then. Even though we are now reaping decades of terrible public policy—demonstrated by the businesses and responsible citizens who are vacating the city—I only see politicians and candidates who are hellbent on more of the same, if not worse.
